Wildflowers

Why worry about clothes? (or anything else)
Look how the wildflowers grow.
They don't work hard to make their clothes.
But I can tell you this,
Solomon with all his wealth
was not clothed like they are!
Matthew 6:28-29

A fish tale

This is the story of a Daddy and his baby daughter.
He decided she needed to know the fine art of fishing.
It's a skill after all.
There's the perfecting of the cast,
the mastery of the reeling in the fish,
and no self respecting girl asks a man the bait her hook,
With the proper training she can do it herself!

It was the perfect day, made perfect not by the brilliant sun, although it was beautiful. Not because of the gentle breeze, although it was soft on their faces. It was perfect because there is nothing that compares to doing something you love with someone you love.

In the end, he taught her well. She caught two and he caught nothing......but he really didn't mind at all!
And that's my fish tale!

#13

I've done my share of the big bang birthday parties. you know, the ones where you have to invite every kid in the class, and the kid with ADHD and disruptive disorder shows up and devastates your house in 43 seconds! I've done the all girls slumber party where you sweetly say "go to sleep girls" at 11pm, then sternly say "Girls be quiet " at 1am, then by 3:30 you are shrieking about dismembering body parts if they don't shut up!

Yeah, well the pay off is doing something really fun in lieu of birthday celebrations when they finally hit the teen years.

Yesterday, we celebrated Virginia turning 13 by a trip the the Atlanta Aquarium. It was a blast!

The huge tanks make it larger than life!

This guy made me think twice about ordering calamari again!

Even thought we had to push our way to the front of every display, we had such
a great time! Her best friend Mary went with us.

Wayne was dreaming of being on"Deadliest Catch"

Leslie was not so thrilled with the whole adventure, but she didn't mind our dinner choice:
The Cheesecake Factory!
I think Virginia had a good birthday, now I'm going to finish
my leftover Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake!

Please don't think I'm a bad wife

Wayne is leaving on a fishing trip with some buddies of his this afternoon. He won't be back until Saturday. This means that for two days:
........no cooking
.......the whole bed to myself
.......we can watch whatever we want on TV
.......I can stay up really late
Yeah, I'll be missing him like crazy by Saturday morning, but until then I might as well enjoy myself a little!

If I had the day off......

I would be sitting on my rocking chair, on the front porch reading my book, while the cat stretches out in the sunbeam. I'd be sipping my ice cold Diet Coke and listening to the birds singing to me. What would you do if you had the day off?

Ps. 42:1

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so I long for you, O Lord.

At just the right time....

Sometimes things happen at just the right time. God knew I needed some time to just be....
Thanks for quiet time with family. Time to think about where I am and where You want me to be.........

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time
and died for us sinners.
Romans 5:6

My favorite Good Friday song

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace
Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know Your forgiveness and embrace
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crown
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

Food for thought

I love to read Stuff Christians Like blog. He is funny and takes hilarious jabs at the stupid traditions that we christians carry on as "sacred" that really aren't! Coming from a legalistic background, I often read his post nodding my head and laughing as he recounts stories that I can identify with from my church background to the tiniest detail.
Today's post was fantastic!:

In the midst of it

Sometimes in certain seasons of your life you will find yourself "in the midst of it".... struggling with different things.......wondering , "How did I get here?"......"When will this be over?"...." God, it's too hard"........
Here's what God is showing me:
......He is faithful...He hasn't left me, even if I can't see or feel Him.
......Let yourself be transparent especially to people who love you.
......It's OK to be needy, God hates for us to self reliant.
......Every season has an ending, and I have a chance to really learn in this season, because it will pass.
......Help comes in unexpected times and unexpected ways.
......Bathing your mind and words in Scripture is a powerful tool.

Psalms 91:4
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
