My midweek update (is it Friday yet?)

It's pretty bad when it's only Wednesday night and you were wishing it was Friday already:

1) My bedroom suit is gone and Wayne and I are are cramming our big tall bodies into Virginia's little double bed every night. Not only is the cover hogging an issue, but Wayne's legs are so long, that my bed space per square inch has shrunk significantly. Hopfully Saturday will bring me a beautiful new bedroom suit.

2) Wayne and I are dieting ourselves into our sexy summer bodies with our church's Biggest Loser Program. Wayne is the ultimate diet police. Every morsel that goes in his mouth is followed by "How many calories was that?" For real-- he calls me at work every time he eats something. Needless to say I'm not quite so exact. The way I look at it Reese's Pieces lose about 200 calories per bag if my day exceeds having to see over 25 patients while at work. He's lost 9lbs. I've lost 6.

3)Leslie has had a raging fever for two days now! Wow she has been so sick!UGH!! Her friend Becky had it last week--Obviously brought home more than dirty clothes from her weekend stay with her pal.

4) I just finished reading Nichoals Sparks book-"The Rescue" It was fantastic as usual. It did not make me cry as his books usually do- just had a nice warm adn fuzzy going on.

Only 2 days to go until the weekend! It has been a long week---

My New Bedroom Suit

YAHOOO! After 16 years I am getting new bedroom furniture. Suffice it to say-- we have completely worn out our present set.
Our first year of marriage I worked night shift and Wayne worked days. We only slept together maybe two nights a week. Not exactly the best way to start marriage, although we seldom fought :) We managed to sleep in the same bed enough for me to be pregnant during that first year, and we celebrated with a new bedroom suit.
Now, 16 years later, it has worn itself out. My nephews broke two of the bed posts, my sweet puppy dog chewed the bottom of the dresser, and although we have had a few mattesses, we seem to roll together every time we lay down at night.
Next weekend we are going to get this:

Lots of fun. Now, I am going to get a beautiful red Pottery Barn quilt I have been loving for the last 6 months!

Rainy Day

Well, I woke up bitterly disappointed that my romantic trip to the mountains wasn't happening due to a blizzard occurring in Atlanta, our direct route to our destination.

I decided to make the best of this Saturday by sitting on my behind all day watching movies.
"Click"-- the Netflix choice of the week was a C+ at best.
So while cooking spaghetti for my ravenous family I found this on You Tube.
My church has contemporary worship, but every now and then I'm drawn back to my southern gospel roots----

UPDATES

Here are some happenings in my neck of the woods----

1. The marathon traing is going well. I forgot that I really enjoy running. I ran 4 miles this morning. I am breaking in my new running shoes and only had one blister. It's finally healed.

2. My sweet hubs ask me to drive to the mountains with him tomorrow. He s pricing a job and wants some company. He also bribed me with promises of a yummy lunch somewhere along the way. I made him promise me that means something more than a pack of peanuts and a Diet Coke. I am so happy that he likes to hang out together. My oldest daughter has her own busy social schedule and she will forgo a four hour drive with her parents( her definition of everlasting torment).

3.I am wanting to tile the backsplash in my kitchen. Look at this:
http://www.stainlessliving.com/backsplash.asp Cool huh??

4.I am working on Ephesians. I'e got to verse 14 memorized. It seems alot harder than James. I love it though! The verses in Ch.1 are so poetic! If you have ever wanted to memorize extended passages of scripture and thought you couldn't check out this site:www.fbdurham.org

Hope your weekend is as peaceful and enjoyable as mine hopes to be!

I'm gonna run a marathon!

It all started when i stepped on the scales a week ago. I was sickened to see that I in fact, registered the same weight as I was 3 days before giving birth to my first child! Holiday eating and no running since Thanksgiving combined into an unprecedented weight gain of huge proportions.

Usually I just cut down on my eating (i.e.-avoid my mid morning Peanut butter Twix and run at least 3 days a week and presto- I shed my holiday pounds. Well, I've never seen this weight outside of pregnancy so drastic times call for drastic measures! I decided the best way to kick start my running and weight loss for 2008 is to sign up for a marathon.

I promptly signed up to run in May and then went to www.runnersworld.com and downloaded the marathon trainers program.

I'll keep you posted on my progress---

Happy New Year

I love New Years Day! It reminds me of the first day of school, without all the anxiety. I love new starts and it seems funny that my morning reading was in Lamentations 3. I was reminded that God's mercies are new every morning. Thank Him and give Him praise as I exhaust my daily supply by noon.

Do you make New Years resolutions? Or are you in the camp that thinks that resolutions are worthless? I love to make them and sometimes I even get close to keeping them. Most of the time they are ridiculous like homecooked meals for my family, lose 25 lbs., stop nagging Wayne. You get the idea.

Here are my very simple 2008 New Years resolutions:

1. Try to have more compassion for people and stop being judgemental of others. As Wayne loves to tell me, " You aren't paying their bills, so what do you care?" Amen honey!

2. Perfect my Creme Brulee. That is really an impressive desert and if I could get the crystalized sugar down pat I can wow my next dinner guest.

3. Spend more Saturdays doing fun stuff instead of cleaning, and more Sunday afternooons taking naps.

4. Continue my quest to stop drinking diet soda.

5. Spend more time laughing and loving on my sweet hubs!

6. Sit and let these two sweet girls have more of my undivided attention!
